  • Hurricane Milton

    Hurricane Milton

    Furious Milton

He rises from the sea with a breath of fire,
A furious force, born of wind and desire.
Hurricane Milton, cloaked in swirling might,
Turns day into shadow, swallows the light.

The Gulf whispers warnings through the midnight air,
A calm before chaos, a silent prayer.
Tampa Bay trembles as the waters swell,
The heart of the storm, a beast from hell.

He dances on waves with reckless grace,
    A twisting, roaring, unrelenting chase.
Palm trees bow in humble plea,
While rooftops shudder, unmoored, set free.

The sky grows heavy, burdened with rain,
The winds howl out like a wolf in pain.
Milton’s eye, a gaze cold and clear,
Spares no mercy, brings only fear.

But in the storm, we find our fight,
The human spirit, steadfast and bright.
For though he rages, we stand our ground,
A lifetime storm, but we won’t back down.

So let him roar, let the tempest rise,
We’ll weather the storm under Florida skies.
For when the winds still, and the clouds disperse,
We’ll rebuild, stronger, from nature’s curse.

Hurricane Milton, you may have your day,
But Tampa’s heart will never sway.
Through storm and surge, through wind and rain,
We’ll rise once more, unbroken again.

  • Gazing into the abyss

    Gazing into the abyss

There comes a point in life where defeat becomes inevitable, and tonight, I feel that moment has arrived. I’ve fought hard, made my choices, and given everything I had to offer, but the weight of it all has finally caught up with me. The truth is, there’s no one else to blame but myself. I’ve made decisions, sometimes out of reasons that most wouldn’t even begin to comprehend. I’ve given when I should have held back, helped when I should have walked away, and in the end, I’ve given far more than I’ve ever received in return.

Now, I’m just too old, too tired, and perhaps, too cynical to continue. I’ve watched this world morph into something disturbingly self-serving, where greed and self-interest reign supreme. The path we’re on was always the path we were meant to follow, but I had hoped to see something different in my lifetime—a spark of hope, a shift toward something better. But now, I’m not so sure. It’s heartbreaking to witness what’s coming, knowing the inevitability of the end, driven by the insatiable hunger for power and wealth.

The sad reality is that we, the average people, lost control long ago, and we didn’t even see it happening. The media, once a beacon of truth, now serves as a tool of manipulation, indistinguishable from the propaganda machines of tyrannies past. The powers behind the scenes—those who pull the strings—have been executing their plan with masterful patience and precision. We are mere spectators to our own demise, powerless to stop it, for the path we’re on has no return. The changes have come slowly, deliberately, and right under our noses, and now, here we are—at the point of no return.

What lies ahead will be destruction on a scale we can scarcely imagine. And for those who survive it, they’ll bear witness to the true nature of hell. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Yet, I can’t help but marvel at the brilliance of it all—the patience, the creativity, the audacity to dismantle everything while we watched in complacency. They did it so subtly, so cleverly, that we never even noticed until it was too late.

And now, there’s nothing left to do but accept the inevitable. We are standing on the precipice, gazing into the abyss, and soon, the fall will come.

  • New Book Release Please Give Them A Read and Your Thoughts.

The Adventures Of Lily The Little Dunedin Lizard, a children’s book and Whispers Of The Cove, a romance novel.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve found more time to write, along with pursuing several other projects since moving to Florida. I recently completed a children’s book and am currently working on a romance novel based on Paradise Cove, inspired by my new hometown.

The first book started after a visit from Danielle and Winston, when they both befriended a little lizard that would hang out by the pool. Most of the lizards here are too quick to catch, but this one felt safe enough to let them hold her. We named her Lily, and soon after, I began writing about her adventures around the area.

Both books have been released on Kindle Vella. The first is titled Whispers of the Cove, and the second is The Adventures of Lily The Little Dunedin Lizard. I chose Kindle Vella because it allows me to release the stories one chapter at a time, which felt like a great way to test the waters. If there’s enough interest, I may explore turning them into full eBooks or even hard copies.

The books can be found on Kindle Vella by entering the book title The Adventures of Lily The Little Dunedin Lizard or Whispers Of The Cove or my name Scott Randy Gerber. https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/story/B0DHGHZMF3

I’d love for you to check them out and share your thoughts, ideas, or feedback. I’m always open to hearing from you.

Wishing you a blessed and productive rest of your week. God Bless!

  • Becoming A True Floridian

    Becoming A True Floridian

    Becoming Floridian

To become a Floridian is not just to stay,
It’s more than a move, it’s more than a day.
It’s waking each morning to a sky kissed with gold,
Where the warmth in the air has a spirit so bold.

You first feel it softly, like the ocean’s slow tide,
As the salt and the breeze wrap your soul from inside.
You know that it’s coming, this change deep within,
When the rhythm of life lets the real you begin.

It’s the sun on your skin that no longer burns,
But feels like an old friend to whom you return.
You stop checking forecasts, the rain’s just a sigh,
A soft summer shower that sweeps through the sky.

You learn to be patient with nature’s wild show,
For hurricanes teach what Floridians know:
That storms, like in life, will come and will go,
But you weather them calmly, with peace in your soul.

The sea speaks to you in its shimmering hues,
A turquoise so vibrant, a blanket of blues.
You walk barefoot now on the white, sandy shores,
And the ocean’s song echoes in your core.

But it’s not just the beaches, the palm trees, or sun,
It’s the lazy lagoon where the manatees run.
The gators you spot by the roadside so still,
The feel of the bay when the evening is chill.

It’s when you stop rushing and learn to take pause,
When you chat with your neighbor just because.
When a sunset is more than the close of a day,
But a masterpiece painted in pink, gold, and gray.

You’ll know you’ve become part of this coastal land,
When a boat feels like home, and the beach feels like sand.
When you crave citrus sweet like a kiss on your tongue,
And the heat feels like love from the Earth’s beating drum.

It’s the call of the herons, the flight of the cranes,
The lazy canals and the warm summer rains.
The buzz of the festivals, the burst of parades,
And the nights where the starlight will never quite fade.

It’s eating fresh grouper, and Key lime for pie,
Learning to slow down, letting life pass you by.
When flip-flops become your everyday wear,
And you start feeling salt in the soft evening air.

When you dance in the rain, let your worries be free,
And sip sweet mojitos by the edge of the sea.
When you laugh with the locals, and call them your own,
You’ll know in your heart that Florida’s home.

So becoming a Floridian isn’t one single thing,
It’s the way that the sunshine can make your heart sing.
It’s a life of sweet freedom, where your spirit can roam,
And you know in your bones you’ve found your true home.

  • The Ending Of The Story

    The Ending Of The Story

    In the Dark image
    The Last Curtain Call

In the quiet hours of a weary night, When stars seem distant, lost from sight, I find a void where hope once stood, A barren place where dreams once could.

The years have passed, a ceaseless strain, And with each dawn, a deeper pain, I sought for peace, a haven’s grace, But only shadows found their place.

The echoes of a life lived hard, A search for solace, left scarred, Each step a question, each breath a plea, For security that never came to be.

I gave my all, with weary hands, In shifting seas, on barren lands, Yet still, the compass led astray, And light was swallowed by the gray.

The game was played, but rules were cruel, A cycle harsh, a mocking duel, For every win, a loss remained, A heart that bled, a spirit drained.

And now the echoes softly say, The search for peace might end this way, A final choice, a quiet release, To find in stillness what I seek.

If I must fall, then let it be, In my own time, in dignity, For in the end, the hardest fight, Is to choose the silence of the night.

So let the curtain gently close, Upon a life that seldom chose, And in that calm, may peace arrive, In a final breath, where I’ll contrive.

To end the pain and weary quest, To finally lay my soul to rest, In the stillness of the final sigh, May I find the peace that passed me by.

  • The Stubborn Dance Of Life

    The Stubborn Dance Of Life

Painting image of The Dance Of Life By Edvard Munch
The Dance Of Life By Edvard Munch 1899

In the grip of dawn’s reluctant light, Where shadows cling to dreams once bright, Life waltzes on with weighty grace, A stubborn dance we all embrace.

The youth is fresh, a tender bloom, But time will draft its somber tune, And though we leap with heart aflame, The fire dims, yet not the same.

The road unrolls in twists and bends, A canvas where the sorrow blends, With fleeting joys and bitter tears, Each mile more fraught with latent fears.

The years march on, a tireless foe, With every step, a deeper woe, For wisdom’s price is paid in sweat, A heavy cost, with no regret.

In laughter’s wake, in silent cries, In battles lost, in victory’s guise, Life’s tapestry is thick and frayed, Yet in its seams, our hopes are laid.

Though we grow old, the weight’s the same, The burden’s form may shift its name, Yet strength is found in bruised resolve, A heart that aches but won’t dissolve.

For in the struggle, we are spun, The silver threads of what’s begun, And though the climb may never cease, It molds the soul and grants it peace.

So face the storm, embrace the strife, With worn-out hands, and tempest life, For though it breaks, it makes us whole, This ceaseless quest of heart and soul.

  • Weekend In Paradise

Beneath the sway of palms, where shadows dance,
A frozen drink in hand, we find our chance—
To leave the week behind, let worries cease,
And soak in the Gulf breeze, the sound of peace.

The barbecue sizzles, friends gather near,
Laughter and stories mix with cheer.
The lapping waves, the white sand’s embrace,
This is our haven, our tranquil place.

The sun dips low, painting skies in gold,
As another week’s tales quietly unfold.
We breathe it in, this life we’ve found,
    Where every moment feels unbound.

In this Florida dream, where time moves slow,
With friendly faces, we let our joy show.
Laid-back days, in this corner of earth,
We savor the simple, the endless worth.

So here’s to weekends, under skies so wide,
With frozen drinks, good friends by our side.
In paradise found, we’ll make our stand,
As the waves kiss gently the sun-kissed sand.

  • The Legacy You Leave

    The Legacy You Leave

    rose on casket image

    The Legacy You Leave

Some chase shadows, day by day,
    Hunting fortunes, led astray.
They climb the ladders, chase the gold,
Yet miss the treasures life can hold.

What truly matters, they don’t see,
    Consumed by wealth’s false guarantee.
The light that shines for some, they miss,
Others find too late, that bliss.

In the end, what will remain?
Not the wealth, nor the gain.
Will they speak of deals you’ve won?
Or of the love you failed to give to anyone?

Will they miss the smile you shared,
Or the way you truly cared?
Or remember you as one who schemed,
Who played the game, and never dreamed?

For in the grave, where all are laid,
No riches keep the darkness stayed.
We come with nothing, leave the same,
    Only echoes of our name.

So choose your path, your legacy,
With eyes wide open, heart set free.
Will you be loved, or leave behind,
A trail of broken hearts, confined?

The choice is yours, in how you live,
To take, to cheat, or to give.
For when your time on Earth is done,
Your deeds will shine, or block the sun.

Remember this, when life seems grand,
The wealth you crave slips from your hand.
But love and kindness, they remain,
The only treasures free from pain.

So treat your family, friends with care,
And let your actions show you’re there.
For in the end, it’s not the gold,
But the warmth of love that’s truly bold.
