An Old Man’s Tale

Old Man telling a tale. image

In twilight’s gentle, fading light, I sit and ponder years gone by, The echoes of my youth in flight, Beneath the ever-changing sky.

I’ve walked through valleys, climbed the peaks, In search of treasures, gold and fame, Yet now, it’s wisdom that I seek, To pass to you before I wane.

Life’s true worth is not in wealth, Nor in the trophies on your shelf, It’s found in moments shared with care, In love, in kindness, being there.

I chased the sun, pursued the stars, But missed the beauty in the scars, The lessons hidden in the pain, The grace that’s found in loss and gain.

Now closer to the end, I see, The threads that weave our destiny, Are spun with laughter, tears, and dreams, Not always as they first may seem.

So listen, young one, heed my plea, Learn from my tardy clarity, Cherish those who hold you dear, In each heartbeat, a treasure near.

Forgive the grudges, mend the rifts, Life’s too short for such deep rifts, Seek joy in simple, quiet things, The peace that true contentment brings.

Time is swift, it slips away, Make the most of every day, For when you stand where I now dwell, You’ll wish to have these tales to tell.

Remember, in your fervent quest, The secret lies in love expressed, In living fully, moments graced, With hearts entwined and souls embraced.
