Rising From The Ashes: A Journey Of Resilience

The site “Whispers Of The Soul” was created to share the writings and poems of Scott “Randy” Gerber, an American businessman, investor, author, and community activist based in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Mr. Gerber has a lifetime of stories and poems to share, both from his past and new creations as life unfolds. Additionally, his passion for photography is showcased in the gallery section of the site.

Mr. Gerber’s success in the business world exceeded his early aspirations from his days as a Paramedic in Michigan. He rose to become the Regional Director for Saginaw Mercy Ambulance, managing operations in one of Michigan’s counties. Following the 1994 merger of Saginaw Mercy Ambulance and EMS of Saginaw, he was appointed Vice President of Operations for the newly formed Mobile Medical Response, Inc., which grew into one of Michigan’s largest and most elite EMS providers.

His dedication extended to serving on the board of the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services (MAAS) until his retirement in 2010. He also contributed to numerous 911 Advisory Boards and Medical Control Boards across the state. In 2002, he received a United States Congressional Tribute from Michigan Congressman James Barcia, recognizing his efforts to enhance paramedic-level care and AED programs in some of Michigan’s most rural counties.

The AED program equipped local police and sheriff vehicles, rural fire rescue units, and community schools with life-saving devices, along with training programs for various agencies. During his tenure at MMR, Mr. Gerber faced a personal battle when his son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of seven. Despite nearly four years of struggle, his son passed away shortly after his twelfth birthday.

Shortly after this tragic loss, Mr. Gerber faced a legal battle when his ex-wife reported that their daughter found a small amount of marijuana belonging to his spouse at the time in his basement. The subsequent raid and media coverage turned his life upside down. After more than two years, the case was dismissed by the appointed judge, but his career and reputation suffered irreparable damage.

Writing became a therapeutic outlet for Mr. Gerber during these challenging times. He transitioned to management positions in other industries and took on the role of President/CEO of Gerber International Holdings, LLC, leading his family’s business group.

In 2020, he permanently relocated to Florida, where he met a successful Realtor and became involved in various projects. These include co-hosting the podcast “The Tipping Point Tampa Bay,” publishing his writings on this blog, and sharing his extensive experience in investing and day trading on “The Traveling Day Trader Blog.” He also completed a childrens book and a romance novel which is called Whispers of the Cove, a new beginning which is available on Amazon worldwide, while continuing to lead Gerber International Holdings, LLC. from his Florida location.
